Russia in the painting of Russian artists

  Эта страничка для моих канадских студентов, изучающих русский язык, а также для всех тех, кто любит Россию.
      Россия. Родина. Для любого русского человека это слово включает в себя очень много значений и образов, близких и понятных каждому. Если их все объединить, то можно сказать, что Родина – это наши исторические, генетические, культурные, ментальные и духовные корни. Это то, что нас, русских, роднит, объединяет в единый народ.      
     Кстати, согласно древним языческим верованиям русичей и других славян, их  прародителем и создателем всего живого и неживого мира был бог Род. Имя его было столь значимым, что и сейчас оно живет в русском языке: корень «род»  существует в  самых важных для русских людей словах  - «Родина»,  «природа», «народ», «родители»,  «родной», «родственники», «родник», «родить», «урожай».
      Я хочу рассказать вам о моей Родине - России - стихами и песнями о ней и показать ее в картинах великих русских художников. Расскажу о русских традициях, обычаях,  русской кухне и русских праздниках.

   This blog is created for not only my Canadian students who studied Russian, but also just for everybody who likes Russia. Rodina - Motherland. This word includes so many meanings, concepts, and images, which are important and dear for any Russian person. If we combine all these notions, we can say that Rodina - Motherland consists of our historical, genetic, cultural, mental, and spiritual roots. It is what unites and brings Russians together into one single nation as a whole.
     According to the ancient Russian and Slavic pagan beliefs, god Rod was their progenitor and  a creator of the animate and inanimate world. His name was so meaningful and significant for Russians that even now it is preserved  in the Russian language: the root “rod” is in every important for Russian people word – Rodina (Motherland), priroda (nature), narod (people, nation), roditeli (parents), rodnik (spring, water welling up from the earth), rodit’ ( to give a birth), urozhai (harvest).
     I would like to tell you about my Motherland – Russia – by using poetry and songs and I would like to show how I view Russia in the paintings of famous Russian artists. I will tell you about Russian traditions and habits, Russian cuisine and holidays.
